Product Photography

I've been asked to take photos for a product for the owner's photo book. I'm at a loss. Where do I start? What do I do? Where do I take the photos? I'm just stuck. I've taken a few and am going to take a few more tomorrow. Ideas, I need ideas! Anyone out there that can help? I need ideas if you have them and want to throw them my way.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

Here are a couple of the pictures I took for the "product photography" : Kristie's Kreations

If anyone would like to order from her, please let me know and I'll pass her information along!

Fix-It Friday [#75] iheartfaces

For my edit, I added the Sharpen/Fog Action from Florabella's Luxe at 100% and then added a selective color layer and adjusted the green, cyan, and magenta tones. I then added a center fill light and adjusted down to 40% and flattened. The change is subtle, but a little more vibrant.

Now, with my little touch of creativity...

Fix-It Friday [#74] iheartfaces

I'm on a roll! Edit number two for me with iheartfaces. I love fall and anything to do with it! Check out the little pumpkin below.

Original Photo by Dana Suggs. I just added my editing touches.
Like Me: Take a peek at my complete blog. I love getting blog love!
I opened the photo with CS5. Added an adjustment layer of hue/saturation, I adjusted the yellows but slid the bar over to the orange area. I then adjusted the saturation +23 and took the lightness down -2. I then added another adjustment layer of levels, I slide both left and right in just a little to lighten the photo just a bit and darken my shadows just a little. I added Florabella's Luxe Center Fill Light and adjusted the opacity to 55% and then added Florabella's Luxe Vignette and adjusted the opacity to 40%. Flatten.

Return + Free Shipping

This makes me a happy individual. I have returned the dress (see below in last post) and have another one on the way. I'm cutting it just a little close. I ordered a petite, let's hope it isn't too short.

I'll post when it has been received!

The Dress

Not too sure about it yet. Thinking about removing the little flower. Thinking about returning it and getting a different one. Or, thinking about recycling an old one.

Hmmmmmm....what to do?

Ouch, That Hurts

I hurt everywhere. It's the start to working out and trying to tone it all up and put it back where it belongs. Tonight was arms and cardio at the gym and I now hurt. Ew. But, the Marine Corps birthday ball is November 10, 2010 and I have goals!! My dress is black and strapless and my arms are NOT up to par. I strategically picked a dress that I did not need to "lose" weight to get in to, such as years passed. It's flowing and not tight, it's wonderful.

I'll take a picture of my new dress in the morning and post for all to see.

Making Mom Happy

Finally, a photograph. One that I took. AND, those are MY photos in the blog slideshow header. Yay me!

My husband and children tried their best to appease me today. We drove to the general's quarters here on Camp Lejeune just a little before sunset and had some family time, along with some camera time. We probably should have went a little earlier than we did. We only had a little while until sunset fell upon us and we were out of the beautiful, natural light that graced us with its presence. I have a new found love for sunset lighting. It makes for gorgeous lighting for photography.

I had lots of different posing planned and props that I wanted to take but of course, I was on everyone elses time, so I had to get dressed, get the kids dressed and run out the door, literally. And, once I get behind the lens, posing does not come so easy. I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable or change the mood so that it turns against me and we have to leave. I will just have to plan another one without the husband next time. He gets too antsy, like he's going to miss something. What could be more important than the moment we were living? Camera, beautiful lighting, what more could you ask for??

Any tips for posing, props, and places? Please, pass them along!

Photography Blog

The description of my blog is "a photography blog", right?

...maybe some photos are in order? Tomorrow is Sunday and the start to a new week. Looks like a good time to start snapping!

I also learned something new about creating slides in PhotoShop today. That's one of the things on my to-do list! The learning continues!! Thank you Timi for teaching!

To-do List

Just some of the things I'd like to accomplish by the end of the year. Yes, this year. How many months, I mean, DAYS left?? I better get started!

1.   Learn my camera - all of the setting, tricks, tips, etc.
2.   Learn CS5 - take a class, self teach, I'm not opposed to either
3.   Lose 15 lbs (I had to put that in there)
4.   Take a vacation - somewhere exotic
5.   Read more - not just the internet, but a real book...maybe.
6.   Exercise more - this goes along with number 3 above.
7.   Learn to use this blog in its entirety, we'll see.
8.   Conduct a photo shoot, a real one, with people/customers that I don't know.
9.   Spend more time with my kiddos and husband, I miss them. I work WAY too much.

I'm sure I could come up with a billion more things I want to accomplish, but this is a great start. Goals are important. They give me something to work toward, look forward to and strive to be better.

Wish me luck!

I...LOVE...it!!!

All Washed Up

Well, today was supposed to be a day of photography and happiness and family togetherness but the weather got the best of the day yet again. I'm sad. I had it all planned, the places, the props, the clothes, everything and a cloud-filled, dreary, cold, rainy-ish day is all that I was handed. Better luck next time, I guess.

Even though the rain washed the photography part out, I was happy to spend the day with the family. We're not always so fortunate to have each other under the same roof wearing on each other nerves, but today we were truly blessed to have that. It was sheer bliss (spoken in complete sarcasm)! Sometimes it isn't so good to stay indoors all...day...long. I love these guys, I really do.

Photos another day. Until then...

Fix-It Friday

This is my very first "fix-it" with iheartfaces. This little girl was such a cute little button, I couldn't pass this one up.

Original Photo:

This is my version of the edit:

First, I used CS5 to edit. I attempted editing in RAW first, I need a little work on that, so I tried in again just opening in regular CS5. I added an adjustment layer on the levels, I slid the left side over a smidge and then did the same with the right. This help with my highlights and darkened my shadows a little. I then adjusted the curve from the middle and took it up and to the right just a little. I then added Florabella's Starlet action from the Luxe set and adjusted the opacity to 42%. I cropped it down just a little to bring her a little closer.

Back on the Saddle

I'm going to make every attempt to try this blogging again. I've been so consumed with school for myself and school for the kids and work, work, and more work, that I've neglected my blog. Tomorrow is picture day! I hope I have memories to post tomorrow.
